The Sunshine House Early Learning Academy is searching for an Education Specialist for the state of North Carolina. The Education Specialist functions as a member of the Education Department. This role supports the work of the department in developing, training on, and guiding implementation of curricular projects. The Education Specialist works primarily in early childhood centers, assessing curriculum implementation, identifying needs, setting goals with management and teachers, identifying support tools, and mentoring teachers in appropriate classroom practices. Summary of Essential Job Functions:Understanding and commitment to the mission of The Sunshine House: providing high quality care & education every child, every family, every day. Regional Educational Responsibilities:Partner with Regional Directors in assessing and addressing center curriculum needs. Conduct goal-setting and mentoring visits within region (and some other areas as needed). 80% of time should be spent in classrooms/centers.Support centers in pursuing national accreditation and/or state quality rated score as needed.Manage center participation in local and/or state quality-assurance programs.Liaison with local childcare boards and associations to build partnerships.Training/Staff Education Responsibilities:Support ongoing quality programming in centers:Serve as contact for center when educational questions ariseSupport in hiring/training of new center staff as neededLiaison with centers to set educational goalsPlan visits to assess quality education implementation (using iAuditor system)Spend time in classrooms mentoring staff in educational implementationServe as CDA advisor for staff pursuing their credential. Plan, manage state approval, and facilitate curriculum trainings for state employees as needed (may be weekends and evenings)Education Department: Write/review new educational materials as needed. Take active role in shaping and maintaining educational vision for company.Miscellaneous:Participate in all strategic planning and other corporate meetingsRepresent The Sunshine House through writing of articles, participating in meetings and possibly presenting at conferences at local and national early childhood meetingsSupport other departments in the development of relevant materialsOther duties as assignedAbilities Required:Ability to connect with early childhood professionals, building effective relationships, at all levels and to effectively train in best practicesHighly knowledgeable about current research-based practices in early childhood and adult learningHighly skilled and effective communicator in written and oral formsTolerance for and ability to excel within faced-paced, demanding management environment including proficiency in Microsoft office tools.Flexibility to adapt to changing focus of attention at any momentAbility to communicate quality programming and set and achieve goals and to improve qualityAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionKnowledge of accreditation standards, quality improvement initiatives, regulations and programs that impact on early care programs in GeorgiaAbility to lift heavy items in excess of 35 poundsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and balance goals for multiple sitesAbility to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and adhere to company policy and procedures.Demonstrated coaching and motivational skills to effectively develop and foster growth in early childhood classroomsExcellent time management and organization skillsAbility to travel (within state) at least 50% of the time and overnight travel periodicallyRequired Education:BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related fieldMA/M Ed in Early Childhood Education or related fieldRequired Experience:3 - 5 years managing educational priorities for multiple programs3 - 5 years in early childhood management Some experience as early childhood teacher preferredBenefits/Compensation Package:Benefits, travel expenses, car allowance, laptop, cell phoneCompensation commensurate with experience/educationThe Sunshine House Early Learning Academy is searching for an Education Specialist for the state of North Carolina.
