The National Cancer Institute proclaims GHS Cancer Institute among nations best in research. Greenville Health Systems Cancer Institute has been awarded 6.7 million to conduct clinical trials and research studies aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing health disparities. GHS is the only community:based site in S.C. to receive the award. The GHS Cancer Institute is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and is affiliated with the National Cancer Institute. It is also accredited by the Commission on Cancer and is the only academic comprehensive cancer care program in South Carolina. GHS has participated in NCI:sponsored research since 1988. In 1995, GHS was awarded a NCI Community Clinical Oncology Program grant to conduct national cancer prevention and treatment clinical trials for people at risk for developing cancer or diagnosed with cancer. In addition, GHS Institute for Translational Oncology Research (ITOR) provides some of the most advanced cancer treatments available anywhere in the world, while supporting industrys crucial need to achieve greater efficiency and expediency in bringing life:saving cancer drugs to patients. The effort to advance these goals led to the creation of ITOR : an evolutionary process that began in 2004. ITOR is a major pillar of translational cancer research at Greenville Health System. The efforts of ITOR include a Phase I Clinical Research Unit, a Biorepository Services platform, and proteomics and enomics capabilities.
The Greenville Health System Cancer Institute has multiple outpatient locations within the Upstate of South Carolina. The clinical research pharmacist will be based at the GHS Cancer Institute Greenville office and be a member of the Cancer Institute Pharmacy team. The position is responsible for providing clinical trial expertise and support for investigational drug therapy at GHS. The candidate will review all protocols for the health:system, ensure regulatory compliance for drug handling and accountability, and provide staff education for new protocols. The position also has the opportunity to develop a clinical practice for patients in the Institute for Translational Oncology Research. The GHS research pharmacy consists of 1 pharmacist and 2 full:time technicians. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of regulatory requirements for investigational products as well as clinical oncology experience.

Active SC pharmacist license
Board of Pharmacy specialty certification and/or certificate of completion of pharmacy residency

In lieu of an active SC Pharmacist license, may be a graduate of an ACPE accredited US college of Pharmacy and have completed requirements for reciprocity pending Board of Pharmacy interview for licensure.
