Job Description: General Function: Primary responsibilities will be to analyze application program requirements and develop computer program code by performing the following duties. Developer III level resources must be able to independently perform the duties and responsibilities listed below, as well as, act as a technical and business adviser to less senior staff members. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this position. * Analyze business requirements and develop system requirement specifications. * Convert business and system requirements into detailed system design and technical specifications. * Create work effort estimates that will be used to present to the customer and will be the primary input to project schedule work breakdowns. * Develop various implementation plans, eg, quality assurance, training, documentation, transition, release, software build, as required by the established software development methodology. * Convert system designs and technical specifications into program code. * Analyze and troubleshoot existing program code and correct errors as required. * Run quality assurance tests to find errors and confirm that those programs meet business requirements, system designs, and technical specifications. * Create and maintain user, technical and operational documentation that describes program code, logic, changes and corrections. * Provide technical support to end users and other support groups as established by service level agreements. * Provide performance and production run monitoring for applications assigned after implementation. * Install software releases as established by software build and release plans either remotely or at customer sites. * Perform other duties as requested and assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: * Train end users or support staff on the proper use of programs and systems. * Assist with the organization, planning, supervising, and control project activities. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required: * Minimum of 4 years work experience using a primary computer language (such as COBOL, PL1, SQL and/or C. Powerbuilder, Visual Basic) * Related work experience using portions of system development life cycle project management processes. * Experience working in either an MVS environment using one or more primary technologies or tools (such as CICS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, DB2, ORACLE, Easytrieve, IMS, or BAL); and/or client server, either two or three tier, in Unix or NT environment. * Must possess excellent analytical skills. * Technical skills must match the position that will be occupied by employees. * Ability to perform analytical and programming tasks independently, such as, design, code, write software, process documentation, and troubleshoot software related difficulties. * Must possess the ability to advise less senior staff members with the solutions to technical issues and business processes that occur while performing application development and support activities. * Strong communication skills, both written and oral. * Post-secondary IT education at the university or college level. Mental Demands While performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required to effectively use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; learn and apply new skills and information; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; and interact with Pomeroy employees, Clients and Vendors. Specific incumbent must maintain composure in a fast paced, high quality environment where personal and team accountabilities are the defining factors. General office environment Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Requirements: .
