What does it mean to be a Business Systems Analyst - Data Warehouse at GLS?The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) - Data Warehouse is responsible for building fast, reliable, and business focused information systems. This is a phenomenal opportunity to interact with senior leadership throughout the company, learn the business, and drive tremendous value. As a BSA you will work on projects in the areas of Data Warehousing, ETL Development, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Data Visualization. This position will consult with Data Analysts and Business Users toward the efficient and effective use of SQL to perform their analytic and Business Intelligence functions. In addition, this position will help design, develop, and implement standardized ETL processes used to populate reporting marts, the data warehouse and business data marts. What will you do each day to ensure success? Research and analyze business problems to determine if systems solutions are advisable and available while building close working relationships with internal and external partners Analyze business needs, and construct text, spreadsheets, charts, diagrams, or other documents to describe the need and solution. Determine workflow impacts Assist in project management duties including project valuation to ensure on time delivery and enable project, task, and story prioritization Collaborate with analysts, department leaders, and developers to design, build, and customize reports and reporting packages using SQL Server, SSRS, and Power BI Prioritize work and negotiate timelines with internal partners Create processes and tools to monitor and improve data quality and system stability Assist with the automation of manual data processes and optimization of user queries, and facilitate data research and understanding while partnered with analysts and business specialists Negotiate with outside vendors to facilitate data exchange enhancements Participate in the development of new ETL processes to make new and existing data sources readily available to statisticians, analysts, applications, and outside business partners using SQL Server and SSISWhat should you already know to be successful in this role? Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Economics, Finance ,Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Accounting, or a related field required Must be willing and able to work at a detailed level, and communicate at a high level Proficiency in SQL including Joins, Inserts, Updates, Creates, Alters, Subqueries, Pivots, Loops, Cases, and basic data transformation functions. Experience in SQL Server and SSIS a plus Knowledge of relational database management systems required. SQL Server preferred Experience building graphs and charts to communicate business information. SSRS and Power BI experience a plus Exceptionally self-motivated, self-directed, and able to maintain focus in a rapidly changing environment Highly organized and able to communicate in detail as well as abstraction Financial Services and process improvement experience a plus Preferential consideration given to candidates with experience programming in batch (ex. PowerShell, DOS, [K]SH), compiled (ex. C#, Java, Python, VB[A]), and/or client/server (ex. PHP, ASP, VBScript, JavaScript) technologies, as will experience with un- or semi-structured data (ex. Xproc, Hadoop, Hive, Pig)Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screenThis position is full-time, requiring minimal schedule flexibility.
